For watch enthusiasts the Sellita SW200-1 movement needs no introduction, but for those who are not familiar with it, the SW200-1 is identical in construction to ETA 2824. The Sellita SW200-1 movement normally comes with date indication but the date ring was removed by the manufacturer to reduce complications to a minimum and keep the brand’s philosophy of simplicity. Fully wound, you have 38 hours of power reserve to support you along your way and thanks to its many variations and small complications, there are quite a handful of well known watch brands equipped with Sellita base movements, Hublot, TAG Heuer, IWC, Baume & Mercier, Oris, Raymond Weil, Sinn, Alpina and Eterna to name a few.

The Sellita SW200-1 movement is recognized by watch repair specialists all over the world and it can be easily serviced and repaired, which it's certainly a big advantage compared to 'in-house' movements. Sellita Watch Co SA is 72 years old and will continue to be successful as a company and you can expect to find spare parts for many years to come. Rest assured your Möels & Co 528 will keep ticking reliably for many years and service costs will be reasonably low.

We have a "zero tolerance" approach to violations of ethical standards and work with third party qualified auditors and internationally accredited testing laboratories to pre-approve any manufacturer we work with. All our vendors have third-party quality assurance service providers for testing, inspection and certification to comply with RoHS and REACH regulations in the US and in the EU.

Our stainless steel crown has an "O" ring that compresses and seals the opening when the crown is tightened. An additional benefit of the screw-down crown is that it acts like a safeguard and protects the movement from accidental knocks. Our timepieces go through dry and wet tests before leaving the assembly line in Switzerland and comply with ISO 2281 standard.

Möels & Co 528 is designed to withstand everyday use and has a 10 ATM water resistance rating which is much greater than the 3 ATM rating common to most dress watches. Our steel cases are CNC machined at micro-scale tolerances and are well sealed. Synthetic gaskets are used on crystals, case back and screw-down crown to avoid water, moisture and dust to penetrate inside the case and damage the movement.

Sapphire crystal is a standard feature in most high-end timepieces because it is a virtually unscratchable material. Sapphire crystal is a synthetic material that is made from a process of crystallising pure aluminium oxide at a very high temperature. The material is harder than almost everything else on earth, with the exception of diamond or tungsten carbide. Sapphire is a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, diamond is a 10. Besides hardness, sapphire crystal also offers superior transparency and clarity giving the watch face a very sharp look from any angle. Möels & Co 528 is equipped with a 3mm double domed sapphire crystal and three layers of anti reflective coating is applied on the underside to avoid reflections.

Our straps are supplied by the Austrian company Hirsch, they are made of high-quality Buffalo leather fitted with quick-release spring bars and silver plated buckles. The inner part is made of soft glove leather lining and the strap is water splash resistant. Strap width and strap length are 22mm/20mm and 120mm/80mm respectively. Testing for quality and performance is conducted during the production of our straps. They pass through torque, tension, compression and flammability tests to ensure all our leather straps stand up to repeated and prolonged wear.

Over the years, the definition of genuine leather has been misused by the watch industry. The vast majority of watch consumers still believe genuine leather is the best or at least, is a premium product that justifies a higher price, but unfortunately it's not. Genuine leather is the catch term for anything that is "technically" leather. The truth is, full grain is regarded as the highest quality leather and that's why we have chosen to use it in our designs. Being the strongest, outermost layer of the hide, and keeping the grain in its entirety, rather than being sanded away to look more uniform, full grain leather lasts much longer and as it ages, it develops a patina, which is the change in colour over time. This change occurs faster on untreated pieces and is considered to be a highly desirable characteristic of modern watch consumers looking for a vintage look.
